PhD: your best friend and/or your worst nightmare!!

You just completed your masters, or you are knee deep in your career, and a strange idea arrives at your doorstep. It reads, "Hey there, want to improve your life? Why not do a PhD?". Before you know it, you water this idea and start planning with searching, applications, probably a visa, documentations and even travel tickets. Chances are that you either will or wont ever get your PhD!. Mostly, you will. Chances are that, a major portion of such successfull PhDs can develop a few, if not many, short-term or long-term mental health issues. I am not a counsellor qualified to advice on matters pertaining mental health, but having went through the rather ardous and highly rewarding journey of my PhD, I can certainly offer a word or two of advice to help make the process a bit easier and productive for you.
